Linda O'Halloran from Ireland sent me a link to an article about the Bodine Family Reunion held at "the camp ground" in North Hector, Schuyler County, New York on September 7, 1897. The article is in one of the inside pages of the newspaper The Ovid Independent from September 14, 1897. The article says this reunion was the first regular reunion of this line of Bodines and included members from Steuben, Yates, and Seneca Counties. Schuyler County is in the Finger Lakes Region of central western New York and is surrounded by the counties of Yates, Seneca, Cayuga, Tompkins, Tioga, Chemung, and Steuben.
Photographs were taken of this reunion by both Charles D. Bodine (1861-1903) of Buffalo, NY and George C. Bodine (1879-1924) of New York City, but I have yet to find those anywhere. Edward Payson Bodine (E. P. Bodine 1847-1921) of Lodi, New York read a historical sketch of the Bodine family at this reunion that he had prepared. This was well-received and later published. The name of this historical sketch was later called History of the branch of the Bodine family founded by Cornelius Bodine, a soldier of the Revolution, and a pioneer of the lake country of central New York. It was published by Charles Bodine Doty in Buffalo, NY in 1897. Here is a link to this article online: History of the branch of the Cornelius Bodine family
So this family reunion was of the descendants of Cornelius Bodine (November 1757 - June 12, 1820). Cornelius had eight sons and no living daughters. He had had many descendants. I believe many other reunions of this line of Bodine were held at later dates as well. Any information on those would be appreciated.
If anybody can find a photograph of this reunion or of some later reunion of this line of Bodines, please do get in contact with me at BodineGenealogy@gmail.com. Thanks for your help.
