Notes for: Julius Brainard Berdine
I finally found Bessie "Trautman" in the 1910 Census of Snyder, Jefferson Co., PA. Her father is John Trautman (age 33, born PA) and her mother is Alice (27, PA). Bessie is three months old which is correct. John and Alice had been married seven years.

I am Virginia Berdine, wife of Julius Andrew Berdine who is the son of the Julius (note, not Julis) and Bessie Kathryn (note, not Kathyn) Troutman.
The main additions and revisions needed in this section, besides the above spellings are:
Bessie's father was John H.Troutman of Jefferson County, PA. The only source I've found is the 1920 Federal census for Sykesville Borough, Jefferson Co. listing John H. Troutman, a son, Clarence 12, and daughters Bessie 9, and Helen 8. John's wife, Alice McInich died 1914 or 1915.
Julius B. and Bessie's children are:
- Judith Mae Berdine Nece
- Julius Andrew Berdine
- Thomas Alan Berdine
All three are living.
The Virginia you have listed as a child is actually myself, Julius Andrew's wife. We would very much appreciate if you would make these revisions. I have been able to find much valuable information on our Berdines on your website and applaud your venture. It's great and thank you!

Bessie Troutman Berdine, 86, of Lawrence Park, died Friday, Jan. 3, 1997, at Twinbrook Medical Center. She was born in Brookville, March 17, 1910, daughter of the late John and Alice McInich Troutman. She had lived in Lawrence Park since 1935. Mrs. Berdine was a registered nurse and a graduate of the Hamot Hospital School of Nursing. She did private duty nursing and then worked at General Electric Co. for 17 years until her retirement. She enjoyed knitting, reading and her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius B. Berdine. She is survived by a daughter, Judith Berdine Nece of Lawrence Park; two sons, J. Andrew Berdine of Sugar Grove and Thomas A. Berdine of Jewell, Ore.; a sister, Helen Cook of White Plains, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. No calling hours will be observed. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to the Lawrence Park Branch of the Erie County Library, 4212 Iroquois Ave., Erie, Pa. 16510. The Dusckas Funeral Home East, 2607 Buffalo Road, is handling arrangements.
