Notes for: Archibald ("Archie") A. Bodine
From Ronny Bodine:
In 1900, Archie and Tessie Bodine lived in Denver, Arapahoe County, Colorado where Archie was the proprietor of a restaurant. He reported that in 16 years of marriage his wife had borne no children. In 1920, Archibald and Cora Bodine lived in Denver and Archie still operated his restaurant. In April 1930, Cora Bodine was a widow, living in Denver.

Hello,
I have been researching a sprout off of my family line and believe she is the wife to your Archibald Bodine. I am hesitant to connect my line to Archibald until I can verify that this is correct. The link to him on your site is: ...
His ID in Familysearch is KNYK-LWV.
I am attaching my research. I appreciate you looking over it and letting
me know what you think.
Thank you,
Nicole Crockett

Hi Nicole,
Dave Bodine asked me to look into this and reply back to you. I have done so and must commend you on your research and assembling the proof. I concur with your assessment. From census records of 1900-1930, which name Archibald's wife as Tessie in 1900, Theresa in 1910 and Cora in 1920 and 1930, it is clear she was named Cora Theresa. Denver city directories show Archie for the first time in 1893. Unlike other cities, the Denver directories did not include the names of spouses. A Mrs. Cora Bodine is listed in 1898 for the first time. In 1918, Mrs. Cora E. Bodine is listed at 4125 Depew and in 1919 Archibald A. Bodine is listed at the same address.
The Denver Post published the following funeral notice for him:
Funeral Notice, Obituary, Denver Post of Sunday, 16 Oct 1927
BODINE---Archibald Bodine, 5501 W. 48th ave., Remains can be seen Sunday afternoon, W. P. Horan & Son, Inc., funeral chapel. Cremation.
More detailed obituaries were published in the Rocky Mountain News from 13 to 17 Oct 1927, but digital newspapers for this year are not available on-line.
I did locate the obituary of Mrs. Cora Bodine:
Obituary, Colorado Transcript (Golden, CO) of Thursday, 7 Dec 1939.
Mrs. Cora Bodine, of 4804 Depew St., Wheatridge, died at the Colorado General hospital, Monday, after a ten-day illness of a heart ailment. She was born in Germany, February 23, 1866. She came to the United States 61 years ago, and for thirty-five years has resided in Colorado. She was the widow of Archibald Bodine. Six nieces and nephews survive. Requiem mass will be held at the Holy Family church, W. 44th and Utica street, at 10 a. m. to-day, with Father Leo Flynn officiating. Interment will be made in Crown Hill cemetery.
I have attached a copy of the original obituary. The fact that her birth date is so close to that in the record you provided, that both indicate her birth in Germany--or Prussia as it were, that the name Kline or Klein is associated with both and that her mother was named Agnes makes it clear we are talking about the same person. The marriage record in Cook County, Illinois in 1891 must refer to another couple as the 1900 and 1910 census both indicate their marriage in 1884.
Dave will update the details on Archie and Cora when he next updates the on-line database.
Best regards,
Ronny Bodine
