Notes for: Johan Peter (Dilts) Dils

Peter was a settler in 1735 on West Jersey Society lands (Peter Dilse). He was naturalized in 1745. His will was written on November 2, 1769 in Amwell Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The name given there was Peter Dilts. It was proven on January 24, 1770 (will #796J, Hunterdon County in Book 15, p. 38). His sons mentioned in his will seem to be John, Harmon, and Peter (deceased). More information is needed, but by this will his daughters might be married to a John Bodine and a George Scharpenstein. I cannot find anywhere sources for the names of his daughters, but most sources have George Scharfenstein marrying Anna Gertrude Dils. If so, the name of John Bodine's wife must be Margaret or Anna Margaret.

Also from this same reference because it mentions a PETER:

Hendrick DIELS made his appearance in Amwell at the beginning of the Eighteenth Century. Had brother, PETER, who was naturalized by Act of Assembly July 30 A.D. 1730; settled on Society Lands, 1735. His will was probated January 24, 1770.

From The Palatine Families of New York & New Jersey: Some Later Arrivals, pg 75 & 76: Another emigrant from Urbach was Peter DILß... The emigrant from Germany to NJ however, was the Johann Peter Dils who md. (1st) 30 Nov. 1725 at Urbach to Eva Margaretha KLEIN, d/o Conrad KLEIN, bpt. 15 Sept 1697(2nd) Elisabetha Maria KALBITZER... Peter DILSE was a settler on the West Jersey Society Lands in 1735 (Chambers p 635). Peter was mentioned in the Janeway Accounts in 1737, and as "Peter DILSE" took the sacrament of the Lord's Supper prior to nat. on 30 June 1745, being naturalized in August 1745. The will of Peter DILTS of Amwell, Hunterdon Co NJ was dated 2 Nov 1769 and proved 24 Jan 1770, naming wife Mary (Hunterdon Co Will #7961). The children of (Johann)
