Notes for: Thomas Jacob Bodine
Margaret Crews wrote that Thomas moved to Illinois (from Kentucky?) in 1832.
Both Thomas and his wife were dead by 1851. By the names found in the 1860 Census of Vermilion County, Illinois, it appears that the children were living with their uncle, George, and their grandmother, Nancy Bodine. Jane Factor found out that Thomas and Margaret died in a cholera epidemic. This information is in "A Brief History of the Ignatius Brown Family," by Don Lawse of Cedar Falls, Iowa (1985). Jane remembers her grandmother (Bernice Daly Kenevan) talking about the Bodines, Kellys, and Browns.
Marguerite (Bodine) Crews wrote that Thomas and Margaret, her great-grandparents, died about ten days apart from each other. They were both about thirty years old. Thomas delegated his bachelor brother, Charles, to care for his five children. This he did, moving them to Vigo County, Indiana.
Here is some information from Vernon Vinzant:
Also, I don't know if I sent you the following gleaned on a trip last year: In the Terre Haute, IN, library there is an extract of records from St. Mary in the Woods Church that lists the following:
Note from Dave: Vernon said it was not clear from the information at the library whether these were actually birth or baptism records. They could be either, but they look more like baptism dates to me. They should not be used as proof of a birth date until the source of these becomes clearer.

From Ronny Bodine:
In 1850, Thomas Bodine lived with his family in Edgar County, Illinois. The census taker recorded the exact birth places for all family members and that all children were born in Edgar County. With the deaths of both Thomas and his wife, their five young children came into the care of Thomas's brother George Bodine. In 1860, George, his four nephews and one niece, and 80-year old mother all lived on a farm in Edgar County.

Subject: Thomas Jacob Bodine & Margaret Reynolds
Hello!
I did a google search on Bodine and came across your site on rootsweb.
Margaret Reynolds was my 3rd great grand aunt. Her sister Martha Mary Reynolds was my 3rd great grandmother. Martha Mary married Timothy G. Daly.
Anyways, I know Margaret died when her children were little and so did her husband. I am curious as to who raised their children. Thomas mother would've died about 9 years later to my records and Margaret's mother Monica lived from 1787/8 to 1882. Did her children live with Monica Reynolds after both parents died?
I can also share information with you on the Reynolds family, as I noticed that you do not have any information on my 3rd great grandmother. I can let you know that Margaret's parents were first cousins and possibly didn't know they were first cousins until they went to get married. I am assuming when their parents met and were like...'Oops.' I assume that may be one of the reasons that Margaret's mother only had four children that lived long enough to have their own children, the other six either died at birth or a few month later.
For my connection: Martha Mary Reynolds (1831-1890) married Timothy G. Daly (1818-1901) and had 9 children, five boys and four girls. One the girls was Helen Mabel (Maybelle) Daly was my great-great grandmother, she married James (Jens) Haukland (later changed to Hawkland). They had four children, two boys and two girls. Their eldest girl Mary Lucille Hawkland was my great-grandmother, married first to Charles Sullivan and had one son and divorced & secondly to Mansfield Sherman Smith and had two children, one boy and one girl. Both are still living.
