He was a captain in the Union Army. A newspaper clipping says he preceded Amantha in death by several years.

Williamson Irvin AND Amantha M. Bodine were married 3 Sept 1856 by Joseph M. Weaver: "Marriage performed at the home of Isaac Bodine in the presence of Wm. McMakin, Isaac Bodine and S. Bayne, by Jos. M. Weaver, Minister of the Baptist Church."

1900 (8 June) Chaplin, Nelson Co.: Amantha IRVIN Sept 1824 KY widowed farmer, Nellie D. Dec 1883 KY gdau, Marion F. March 1887 KY gson, James B. April 1889 KY gson, Lawson BODINE March 1846 brother farm laborer.
This clipping was found in the "Kentucky Standard," Bardstown, Kentucky. The date is unknown:
Annie M. Irvin, 82 years old, died at Chaplin. She was the widow of Williamson Irvin, Captain in the Union Army. Mr. Irvin preceded her in death by several years. She is survived by three children, Annie E., . . . Isaac B. and C. F. Mrs. Irvin was a consistent and devoted member of Chaplin Fork Baptist Church, where services were held and burial in the church cemetery. . . . Mrs. Irvin lived in Chaplin in an old house built in 1792. The house was formerly constructed of logs and later weather board.
