He was killed in a training accident in the armed services.

The Galveston Daily News of 3 Dec 1952. LAS VEGAS, Nev., Dec. 2---The Air Force said today that 2nd Lt. Joseph Bodine, 22, Blandlake, Texas., was killed yesterday when his F86 Sabre jet plane crashed in the desert during a training mission. Bodine was attached to the Nellis Air Force Base near here. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Bodine, Blandlake.
