William Perry Owsley was last known to be living in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas in 1880, in the household of his son-in-law and daughter, William and Nannie (Anna) Johnson. By 1840, the family had relocated to Marion County, Missouri and was still there in 1860. In 1870 he was living in St. Joseph, Buchanan County. In Jan 1845, he shot and killed Samuel Smarr, of Miller Township, after Smarr had repeatedly verbally abused him. He was tried in Palmyra in March 1846 and was found not guilty ("History of Marion County," St. Louis: E. F. Perkins, 1884, p. 901). His wife, Almira (Robards) Owsley was the daughter of Elizabeth Barbary Robards, in whose will of 23 Nov 1836, she and William P. Owsley are named as heirs. William Owsley was also appointed her executor in Marion County (Marion Co. Wills & Administrations, A: 225-226).
