Notes for: Georgia R. Bodine
From Ronny Bodine:
From The Jacksonian (Wooster, OH) of Thur., 28 Dec 1882.
About five o'clock on Wednesday evening of this week, a little daughter of Mr. Bodine living on West North street, this city, was fatally shot by a pistol in the hands of Miss Fannie Martin a sister-in-law of Mr. Bodine. Miss Martin had given the weapon--which was an old fashioned single barrel pistol--to the little girl to play with. Shortly after she took it away from her and in attempting to let the hammer down, the load was discharged, the ball entering the child's head just above the eye, producing death in about six hours. Here is another text for those persons who are opposed to children carrying fire arms.
