Notes for: Donna Mae "Waagoshenhskwe" Walker

Donna Mae Walker, or Waagoshenhskwe, meaning "Little Fox Woman," died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at Northern Michigan Hospital. She was 57.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
Donna was born Oct. 30. 1947, in Charlevoix, the daughter of Levi and Josephine (Otto) Walker and was raised in Charlevoix by her father and her older siblings.
On June 27, 1982, she married Virgil Franklin Scripter and he preceded her in death on April 25, 2004.
Donna worked as a nurse's aide at Bortz Health Care for 12 years. She enjoyed going to the casino, was an avid frog collector and loved crocheting baby blankets. She attended the Holy Childhood Indian School in Harbor Springs during her early years.
She will be remembered by how she always was willing to help people, even through her hardest times. She will be missed.
She is survived by a son, Ira (Lorelei) Walker, of Petoskey; two daughters, Norma Jean Mulholland of Petoskey and Julia Ann (Robert) Holland of Petoskey; stepson, Russell Scripter, of Indian River; a brother, Levi Walker, of Georgia; two sisters, Pauline Walker of Charlevoix and Yvonne Walker-Keshick of Pellston; a half sister, Lynn (Michael) Fulcher, of Harbor Springs; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents, Levi and Josephine; her husband, Virgil Scripter; and by a sister, Freda Schwander.
