The marriage of Miss Catherine Hamerschlag, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hamerschlag and Lt. Robert Beaudine, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Beaudine of Washington, D.C., formerly of Laurelton,took placfe yesterday morning in St. Rose of Lima Church with Mons. James H. Casey officiating. Ensign Frank Beaudine was best man.

Commander, USN Retired Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed on March 29, 2006 at Balboa Naval Medical Center San Diego, surrounded by his wife and family. Born in the Bronx, New York April 3, 1920, he graduated from Chaminade High School, NY and University of Notre Dame, 1940 cum laude. He later received his MBA from National University, San Diego. He was a WW II Naval aviator who spent the bulk of his combat military experience patrolling the North Atlantic and Mediterranean. He originally moved to Coronado in 1956 and later assumed command of Patrol Squadron VP46 at NAS North Island, returning permanently in 1961. He took the position of Program Administrator for Surveyor and LEM Programs at Ryan Aeronautical Company. After retiring from the aerospace industry he dabbled in culinary arts and real estate and turned his avocation of contract bridge into a life long vocation leading duplicate bridge games for the Coronado Bridge Club and cruised the world with Travel with Goren. He is survived by Catherine Beaudine, his wife of 62 years, five children: daughter Janell Darby (Paul), son Robert Beaudine (Dena), son Thomas Beaudine (Susan), daughter Michele Duggan (John) and daughter Carol Stamper (Brian); 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Milton J. Beaudine. A memorial service will be held at NAS North Island Chapel on Thursday, April 13, 2006 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a celebration of his life at the family home. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Catherine Beaudine passed on March 2, 2007 at Balboa Naval Medical Center, after a short illness. Born February 5, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY, she received a BA in Music from Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY. She married USN Lt. Robert J. Beaudine the following month on June 10, 1944. Upon Cdr. Beaudine's retirement from the Navy, they permanently moved to Coronado, CA in 1960. For a while, Catherine taught elementary school classes in Arlington, VA and Sacred Heart in Coronado, CA. Kay, as she was known, was able to turn her avocation of contract bridge into a life long vocation. She taught duplicate bridge both locally and internationally. With her husband, Bob, who led duplicate bridge games, she gave bridge lessons as they traversed the continents cruising with Travel with Goren. Her life was about family and her sense of humor and appreciation of life will always be remembered by her children and friends. She was adventurous and of an independent spirit and loved celebrating life. She is survived by five children: daughter Janell Darby (Paul) of La Mesa, son Robert Beaudine (Dena) of Westlake Village, California, son Thomas (Susan) of Yucaipa, California, daughter Michele Duggan (John) of San Diego, and daughter Carol Stamper (Brian) of Jacksonville, Florida, 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
