DECATUR -- Marsha Lynn "Sam" Peters, 76, of Decatur, died Saturday, October 7, 2017, at her residence. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with visitation from 9:30 A.M. until service time. Sam was born June 29, 1941, in Decatur, the daughter of Michael and Sue (Lowe) Bodine. She had quite an extensive work history beginning when she was 16. Sam worked at Walgreens in the Citizen's Building, then at Steak N Shake on Main St, and after school she worked at the Kite Factory. She worked at the Fair Tavern when she was 20, but had to quit because they passed a law women had to be 21 to work there. She then went to work at the F.W. Means Factory and then to GE until they closed. After that Sam worked at Caterpillar from 1978 to 1982. After Cat, she worked a lot of places as a cleaning lady, including Philips Gas Works, Hickory Point Bank, North Fork Museum, and the Sewing Factory. Sam worked in the cleaning department at Exxcel, then on the floor in assembly on second shift. She then worked at Cash Valve for 3 years until they sold out, and then worked at Climate Control until she retired at the age of 62. Sam loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a hard working woman who loved and cared for many family members and friends. She is survived by her son, Lynn; daughter, Stacy (Charles) Hill, all of Decatur; grandchildren, Tavia Hill, Sierra Hill, and Tristen Hill; brother, Don "Duck" (Nancy) Lowe of Pinckneyville, IL and their three children; her best friend in the whole world and cousin, Sharon; uncle Eddie Cassell and his children, Bruce (Debbie) Cassell and Brenda (Gary) Wilson; and her best girlfriends, Mickey, Patti, Caroline, and Dottie Ray. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Tracy, four aunts, and one uncle. The family would like to give special thanks to hospice nurse, Becky Parini.
