Notes for: James Fermon Bodine, Sr.

He worked many years in the construction of pipe lines for a major oil company and it was during this interval that he suffered severe damage to his spine disabling him for many years. A successful operation was finally performed which allowed him to function in an almost normal manner for the remainder of his life. They were married in Eastland, Texas by J. P. Sam J. Day on November 26, 1926. At that time, Fermon was working in Port Arthur. This information came from his widow who survived him for several years.

Ray Bodine/Moore said, "Fermon worked as a pipe line foreman and laid pipe in forty-six of the forty eight states. He built a nice home in Port Arthur and raised a family there. Believe that he was there in the 20's."

Subject: Billie James Bodine (b1927)

Hi there

Do you think it possible/probable that Billie James Bodine, 1927-1929 was a twin?

The 1930 census shows J.F. Bodine Jr, aged 2 years 5 months, which takes his birth back to December 1927, the same as Billie James.

If Billie died in 1929, I think it's unlikely that his parents included him in the census the following year.

Just some thoughts.

My connection is with Ludmilla Clark - she and I would be 2nd Cousins, twice removed.

Cheers
Tom

From Ronny Bodine:

James Bodine registered for the World War I draft on 12 Sept 1918 in Cleburne, Johnson County at which time he worked as a farm laborer. James Bodine worked many years in the construction of pipelines for a major oil company and it was during this interval that he suffered severe damage to his spine disabling him for many years. A successful operation was finally performed which allowed him to function in an almost normal manner for the remainder of his life. At the time of his marriage Fermon was working in Port Arthur. Ray Bodine/Moore said, "Fermon worked as a pipe line foreman and laid pipe in forty-six of the forty eight states." In 1930, the family lived in Pecos County where James worked as an oilfield laborer. His wife, L. C., was recorded as A. L. Bodine in the 1930 census and her death was recorded as L. Bodine in her Texas death record and by the Social Security Administration.

The 1943 city directory of Fort Worth, Texas seems to be the one source that provides her actual first name in lieu of just initials:
