Joseph Hamilton Bodine, age 86, of the Mt. Zion Community of Washington County, passed away at 3:03 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010 at his home. A native of Washington County, he was born on March 13, 1924 to the late Harvey Isaac “Dick” and Artie Grigsby Bodine. He was a longtime faithful member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church where he served the church as an elder, Sunday School superintendent, as well as a teacher, trustee, treasurer and various other positions and committees over the years. He was a Marine veteran of World War II. He owned and operated for several years Joe's Food Market in Springfield, was a farmer and served as a corrections officer at North Point Correctional Facility. Survivors include his wife, Loraine Hardin Bodine; a daughter, Ann Bodine Rothfuss and her husband, Scott, of Hamilton, Ohio; two sons, Jimmy Bodine of Mt. Zion and Sammy Bodine of Glasgow; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Bodine, Julia Hutchens, David Bodine, Brooke Bodine, Zachary Rothfuss, Andrew Rothfuss and Kali Rothfuss; four great-grandchildren, Courtney, Madison, Kalyee and Myralee; and a sister, Christine Hill and her husband, Frank Hill Jr., of Mt. Zion. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 20 at Carey & Son Funeral Home, with Dr. Robert Moore, former pastor of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, officiating, assisted by Rev. Michael Cobb. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, where full military rites were conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. Serving as pallbearers were Jonathan Bodine, David Bodine, Andrew Rothfuss, Casey Hutchens, Tim Grigsby and Craig Grigsby. Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Loraine Hardin Bodine, 88, of the Mount Zion community of Washington County, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at her home. A native of Washington County, she was born Feb. 6, 1923. She was a homemaker, a graduate of Springfield High School and a member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, where she served as the church organist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hamilton Bodine; her parents, Estill and Alpha Farris Hardin; and two brothers, Estill Woodson Hardin and Theodore Hardin. Survivors include two sons, Sammy Bodine, Glasgow, and Jimmy Bodine, Mount Zion; a daughter, Ann Rothfuss and her husband, Scott, Hamilton, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Bodine, Julia Hutchins, David Bodine, Brooke Bodine, Zachary Rothfuss, Kali Rothfuss and Andrew Rothfuss; five great-grandchildren, Courtney Skimmerhorn, Madison Bodine, Kaylee Bodine, Lauren Hutchins and Myralee Rothfuss; a brother, Keith Hardin and his wife, Mary, Louisville; and a sister, Jean Franklin, Louisville. The funeral will be 1 p.m., Tuesday at Carey & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Moore, a former pastor of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Michael Cobb, pastor of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jonathan Bodine, David Bodine, Casey Hutchins, Zachary Rothfuss, Andrew Rothfuss and Tim Grigsby. Carey & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
