Notes for: Alfred Bodine, M.D.
He wrote long letters to Missouri to his brother Isaac Addison Bodine, two of which have been preserved. One deals with his Morrison connection, while the other tells of his troubles with the nine slaves of Catherine Bodine, John's sister, whose estate he administered. There were difficulties in carrying out her instructions that these slaves be freed at a certain age. He made extensive provisions for caring for the children of John Thixton and Mary Ann Bodine, both of whom died when these children were young.
From Ronny Bodine:
In 1860, Alf Bodine, a farmer, lived in Nelson County. His combined real and personal property was valued at $57,000. Alfred and Fanny Bodine were buried in Little Union Cemetery in Spencer County, Kentucky. The death of Alfred Bodine was recorded as 28 Dec 1860 in the Brown family bible, but was inscribed as 30 Dec 1861 on his gravestone.
