Hey Dave,

... But it does look like Vera was 4th wife, making Grace the 5th. Notice that when Harold died only Lawrence is named as a surviving child... Likely Lawrence is the one who had the obits written and either never knew of his siblings or had no contact or relationship with them. Jarrold may be phonetically written and his middle name may be Lee not Rae. Ancestry interprets the name as Rae, whereas Family Search says it is Lee. The name is overwritten so it is a dark smudge, but looks more like Lee than Rae. I will continue to poke about.

Subject: Harold Bodine 1940 Fed Census Wichita Kansas

Are you aware of anyone researching Harold Bodine of Wichita Kansas. He is listed in the 1940 Federal Census living in Wichita, Sedgwick County Kansas. Shows his wife as Vera Bodine along with a son Jerrold Lee born 1940 age 2 months and my half brother Richard Abraham age 7 and half sister Carol Ann Abraham age 4. I am confidnet that Harold and Vera were not married. I am also confident that Jerrold Lee is Vera's son. I am not sure Harold is the father. The census lists Harold's age as 37? born in Oklahoma 1903?. He is a fry cook at a resturant. His residence April 1, 1935 is listed as Chicago. Vera's age is listed as 27. She and my father were married in 1932 and divorced in 1939. This child (Jerrold) was born out of wedlock. I have no clue where Harold went after this census but I do have future knowledge of Vera and the children. I believe Jerrold was adopted out and changed last name. Thank you for anyone who is researching this line of Bodines. Sincerely, Burl Abraham
