Notes for: Johanna Van Ommen

Mrs. Dielis Vander Waal, nee Johanna Van Ommen, daughter of Barend Van Ommen and Dirkie Fransen was born at Pella, Ia. April 2, 1891 and departed this life after a very short illness on Sunday morning, April 1, 1956 having reached the age of 64 years 11 months and 29 days.
On February 12th 1914 she was united in marriage to Dielis Vander Waal at Pella and to this union were born 2 children: Elmer Ray and Ralph Lloyd both residing at Pella.
She made profession of her faith in the 3rd Reformed Church of Pella at the age of 16 and throughout her lifetime has been an active and interested member of the churches' various departments. She was especially active in Sunday School and the League for Service.
Her husband Dielis Wander Waal passed away Jan. 1, 1947. Also preceding her in death were 3 sisters and two brothers.
Surviving beside her two sons are 5 grandchildren and one brother Dick Van Ommen of Oskaloosa; and 3 sisters: Elizabeth, Mrs. Henry Dieleman Alice, Mrs. Nick Bogaards of Des Moines; Gertrude, Mrs. Ben Vogelaar of Pella.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Funeral Services were conducted on Wednesday, April 4, 1956 from the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. and the third Reformed Church at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Russell J. Redeker in charge. Burial was made in Black Oak Center Cemetery.
