Notes for: William ("Will") Richard Vanderwaal

On his WW I Draft Registration, he signed his name as William Richard Vanderwaal. He was a farmer but listed himself as a "cripple." His address was Erskine, MN which seems to have been in Poplar River Township.

In the Red Lake Falls (MN) Gazzette of July 11, 1918, there is an auction announced for July 13 by W. R. Vanderwaal of his farm. It calls it the Vanderwaal farm in Section 31, Poplar River, 8 miles southeast of Terrebonne, 7 miles northeast of Mentor, and 7 miles southwest of Brooks. I wonder if he sold the farm and then moved to South Dakota at that time. He has 15 horses, 45 head of cattle, a lot of machinery, and other items.

He is married to an Evans woman.

He is married. That is this William VanderWaal.
