NEWLYWEDS---Mr. and Mrs. Charles Merlin LaRose, Jr., of Walton, after their marriage Saturday, at the Church of St. John the Baptist. Mrs. LaRose is the former Betty Joyce Budine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman A. Budine of Walton. Mr. LaRose is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles LaRose of Downsville. They will live at 84 North Street, Walton.

UNADILLA---Charles M. LaRose, 81, of Unadilla, passed away unexepectedly on Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at Tritown Regional Hospital in Sidney. He was born April 8, 1934, son of the late Charles and Cecelia (Foley) LaRose in Benson Mines. Chuck's early childhood was spent in Star Lake. They later moved to Downsville in 1948 where he graduated. On Feb. 14, 1953, he married Betty Budine. Shortly after he was drafted into the United States Army. He served two years, 18 months of which was in Germany as a member of the Big Red 1. In 1955, Chuck and Betty moved to the Sidney area where they spent their life together. Chuck was very active in sports. He played baseball for the Sidney Cardinals, Sidney softball and coached his boys in Little League baseball. An avid golfer, he helped his family learn the game. He bowled and was also a hunting enthusiast. Chuck worked at Amphenol in Sidney for 41 years as a machinist and supervisor, retiring in 1996. He is survived by beloved wife, Betty, Unadilla; four sons, Michael and Ruth, Mark and Rebecca, Tom and Sherry and Scott and Michelle; daughter, Laurie and Sam Doss; sister, Charlotte and Gary Woods; brothers, Leland and Judy LaRose and Randy LaRose; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 5, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the funeral chapel with Fr. Gordon Polenz officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Unadilla. Condolences and memories may be shared online at www.landersfh.com.
