Notes for: Sarah Josephine ("Josie") Bodine
Mrs. "Jo" lived for many years in her home just off the SW corner of the San Augustine County Courthouse. James Melvin Bodine visited Sarah on several occasions and had conversations with her. She was a very strong person and walked to church until she was well into her 90's. This was quite an accomplishment because it was a distance of several miles. She was very proud of her brother, Perry Alexander Bodine, and never failed to make mention of him during our visits.
From Ronny Bodine:
In 1910, G. R. Whitton, a sawmill foreman, was living with his family in San Augustine County. They reported that in 6 years of marriage, his wife Josie had borne 4 children, all then living. In 1920, he was Robert Whitton, still working at the sawmill, and living next door to his in-laws, Ollie and Alice Bodine.
Children: Flory (c1905), Robbie (c1907), Bonia (son, c1909), Alice (Jan/Feb 1910), Joseph (c1912).
