Everett L. Budine, 80 of Walton, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 27, 2006. He was at home following a long respiratory illness. His family was by his side. Everett was always smiling, laughing, and joking around. He was a very happy and caring person. Everett was born in Walton, up Oxbow Hollow on Budine Hill, on June 29, 1925, the son of the late Everett N and Laura Baker Budine. On May 4, 1946, he married the former Wilburna Peterson at the First United Methodist Church, Walton. Everett was a life long resident of Walton, employed by the NY State DOT, Breakstone's, Tweedie's Construction, and S.J. Bailey. After retirement, he worked with his son and daughter at ERA Real Estate, Walton. He really enjoyed working with the public. The job he enjoyed most and will be best remembered for is working at the gate of the Delaware County Fair. He always had a jovial greeting for all who entered, and told many amusing stories entertaining those who went through his gate. Everett was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church of Walton. His church family was very important to him. He had a very strong faith in the Lord. Everett was a charter member of the Walton Lions Club, charter member of the Western Square Dance Club, Sidney Moose, and the Oxbow Rod and Gun Club of Walton. Everett will truly be missed by all his friends and family for his smile, wonderful laugh, happy and caring spirit. He particulary enjoyed traveling and taking cruises with his wife, Wilburna. Everett is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Wilburna; his son Randy L. Budine and his wife Debra of Oneonta; his daughter, Judy Lindsay, and her husband Phil of Walton, 2 loving grandchildren, Chad E. Jackson, and Michael R. Lindsay, a step-grandaughter, Jaime Croteau, and her husband, Tom; 2 great grandchildren, Zachary, and Dylan of Oklahoma; a sister, Rhetha Filer-Mauro of Trout Creek, 2 step brothers, David Carroll, Walton, and Robert Carroll, Oxford; severall nieces, nephews, and cousins. A graveside service will be held at Walton Cemetery on Sunday, August 6, 2006, at 3:30 PM with the Rev. Mark Del Giudice, officiating. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions on Everett's memory may be made to Catskill Area Hospice, and or the First United Methodist Church of Walton. Wilburna A. Budine, 96, of Walton, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. She was at home surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 25, 1928, in Walton. Wilburna was the daughter of the late Cecil and Dorothy (Darling) Peterson. On May 4, 1946, Wilburna married Everett Budine at the First United Methodist Church in Walton, beginning a loving marriage that lasted for 60 years. A lifelong resident of Walton, Wilburna worked for 30 years at Amphenol Corporation (Bendix) in Sidney, NY. as a supervisor. She later worked at Stockton Avenue Market, where she especially enjoyed interacting with the community. Wilburna was always known for her infectious smile and her joyful, caring nature. She was the heart and soul of her family, always offering guidance, love, and wisdom. Wilburna's vibrant presence will be cherished by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as her legacy of love and joy continues to inspire those who knew her. As a member of the First United Methodist Church in Walton, her faith and church family were integral to her life. Wilburna's devotion to the Lord and her strong sense of community were central to who she was. Wilburna found joy in playing pinochle with friends and family, cooking and baking delicious meals and pies, telling her jokes and camping with loved ones. She found great companionship in her dog, Katie, and looked forward to her daily visits to TA's with her dear friend, Frannie Rice who predeceased her. Wilburna was a proud and devoted supporter of her grandson's sports and activities, attending every game she could. However, her greatest pride and joy was her great-granddaughter, Kenzlee Marie Jackson. Wilburna is survived by her brother, Nelson Peterson (Marjorie) of Unadilla; her son, Randy L. Budine (Debra) of Oneonta; her daughter, Judy Lindsay (Phil) of Walton; two grandchildren, Chad E. Jackson (Tasha) and Michael R. Lindsay (Taylor); four great-grandchildren, Kenzlee, Jayden, Gjianna, and Anthoni, Sister-in-law Ramona Peterson; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband, Everett; and her brothers, Cecil Peterson Jr., Ronald (Ronnie) Peterson, her sister-in-law Rhetha Filer Mauro. Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the First United Methodist Church, 101 North Street, Walton, NY, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm, officiated by Reverend Christine Lindeberg. Wilburna will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, remembered for her kind heart, laughter, and the joy she brought to everyone around her. Memorial contributions in Wilburna's memory may be made to Helios Care (Hospice) and or the First United Methodist Church of Walton.
