Together on earth; together in eternal life. Ralph Louis Ferri was born in Idaho on October 19, 1928 to Marie and Daniel (born Donato) Ferri of Casamassima, Italy. On November 23, 1921, Kathryn Ferri, born Kathryn Sweat, was born in Georgia to Benjamin Franklin and Mary Gertrude Sweat a.k.a. B.F. and Trudy and lovingly known to their grandchildren as Nana and Pop. Ralph and Kay met at Harry's Roller Rink in San Bernardino, California, where Ralph worked as a second job, and they married on July 3, 1948. Ralph was a prideful aircraft mechanic in the United States Air force where he served 30 years. He did several tours overseas in such places as Korea, Goose Bay Labrador, France, and Viet Nam while Kay tended to their home and their 4 children. Kay worked as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone and shared her gift of music as a talented pianist and organ player for the church. In 1960, Kay, Ralph, and their children took a grand tour of the United States in their 56 Oldsmobile pulling an Aloha travel trailer. They traveled from Dover Delaware all the way to California and back again staying at and visiting numerous National Parks and points of interest. Their passion for travel continued throughout their life together as they took several cruises and they were especially fond of Alaska and Hawaii. Both Ralph and Kay worked well into their 80s and did volunteer work in the Yucaipa community where they had settled in 1967 after living in many places. Once their children moved on to start their own families, they continued to share traditional family values with their grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great- grand- children, never missing a holiday, birthday, or graduation. Kay and Ralph hosted countless family gatherings and loved sharing their pool during the hot summers. They always remembered what your favorite food or pop was to drink and made sure they had it when you arrived. After 65 years as man and wife, Ralph cared for Kay until she passed away on February 9, 2014. He then followed her into eternal life only two short weeks later on February 23, 2014. They will be sorely missed but never forgotten. Survived by two sons, one daughter, a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, Ralph's two sisters, one brother, and Kay's sister.
