Notes for: Edwin Adolph Bodin

From Ronny Bodine:

Obituary, Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted, Minnesota.
Edwin Adolph Bodin was born November 6, 1917, in Marysville Township, Wright County, the son of Charles and Selma (Svenson) Bodin. He was baptized on January 20, 1918, at the Swedesburg Lutheran Church in Marysville Township. On June 28, 1931, Edwin confirmed his faith at Carlslund Lutheran Church in Buffalo. He attended the Little Canada School near his home through the eighth grade. Edwin was a faith filled member of Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo. In 1988 he and his brother joined Mount Hermon Lutheran Church. Here they enjoyed new friendships as they joined in fellowship with this congregation. Edwin lived most of his life on the family farm in Marysville Township. It was on his family farm that he and his brother Reuben enjoyed the career of farming. Milking cows and working their land provided everything they needed to lead an enjoyable life. When the work was done they were off to their newest favorite spot to enjoy the quiet joy of fishing. In 2001 the brothers moved to the Annandale Centennial Villa Assisted Living and Care Center. As Edwin mentioned in a phone call to one of the nieces the day following their move, "You know a move like this takes some adjusting. You nieces and nephews helped us move and now we adjusted." Remember, this was the next day after the move! How they enjoyed their new found life away from the farm. They surprised us all! Daily meeting and greeting residents and staff added a new pleasure to their days. In 2007 Reuben passed away and Edwin agreed to move to the Good Samaritan Society in Howard Lake to be closer to his family. Here he found additional family to love-- the staff, residents, and their families filled his days with so much enjoyment and love. Again he surprised us with his positive outlook. His keen memory and enjoyment of sports, politics, religion and the daily news made visiting with him a treat! Here Edwin set up his own”assisted living” room! The simplicity of one room delighted him. Visitors were invited to his room so they could enjoy time at his fellowship table -- a small round kitchen table and chairs in the middle of his room. He proudly hosted many visits at this table. As time moved on the fond memories of his days on the farm and the time spent fishing with his brother remained precious. It became evident that his lifetime of faith continued to grow and mature with new understanding. He faithfully studied scripture daily and joyfully shared his love for Christ. Edwin passed away at the Good Samaritan Society in Howard Lake on Sunday morning, February 12. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Walter in 1983, Harold in 1993, Clarence in 1995, and Reuben in 2007; his sister Ruth in 1997; nephews Daniel and Jack; and his sister-in-laws Harriet, Sally, and Fern. Edwin is survived by his four nephews and their wives Robert and Janet Bodin, Alvin and Linda Bodin, Duane and Donna Bodin, Donald and Laureen Bodin; niece-in-law Eileen Bodin; his nine nieces and their husbands Betty and Gary Anderson, Beverly Derrick, Joan and Willie Bauernschmitt, Sharon and Allen Glessing, Jan and Tom Fitzpatrick, Barb and Lloyd Rassat, Gwen and Clyde Adickes, Cheryl and Ron Philippi, and Tami and Kevin Chilson; as well as many great nieces and nephews and a host of special cousins and friends.
