A vigil service will begin at 5 p.m. Friday at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camas for Helen Hart, who died Friday, Aug. 8., 2003, in Camas. She was 86. Mrs. Hart was born April 6, 1917, in Bemidji, Minn. She moved to Camas in 1939. She attended Lower Columbia Community College, Western Washington University and graduated from the University of Portland. Mrs. Hart was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church for 60 years and past president of the Aquinas Guild. She was a member of Camas Historical Society, American Association of University Women and the Senior Women's League. Mrs. Hart, a former Girl Scout leader and assistant 4-H leader, had traveled all over the world. She enjoyed genealogy, sewing and reading. Survivors include her husband, Thomas W. Sr., at home; four daughters, Barbara L. Holdt of Ridgefield, and Beverly H. Martin, Sally E. Clark and Judith M. Kuhn, all of Vancouver; four sons, Thomas W. Jr. of Chandler, Ariz., Michael S. and James B., both of Camas, and John R. of Tempe, Ariz.; one brother, Buell Bodin of Longview; 21 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan A. Eiford. A memorial Mass will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Thomas W. Hart, Sr., age 95, passed away on January 10, 2011 at home in Camas, WA. He was born April 16, 1915 in Malta, MT. A vigil service will be held on Friday, January 14 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 15 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church.
