SHREWSBURY TOWNSHIP -- John R. Bodine, 45, of 26 Barker Ave., died yesterday at Monmouth medical Center, Long Branch.

Born in Jersey City, he had lived in this area for 20 years. He was employed at Ft. Monmouth as a warehouseman. Mr. Bodine was a member of the Eatontown Presbyterian Church, and the Long Branch Order of Eagles.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Charlotte Johnson Bodine of Eatontown.

Woolley Funeral Home, Long Branch, is in charge of arrangements.

John R. Bodine was one of three children of Oscar and Charlotte Johnson Bodine, both Swedish immigrants and both deceased. John died unmarried. He had a brother, Evert, who died at the age of 2 in 1921 and his only other sibling was Einar Theodore Bodine who died in 1953. Einar's widow, Jean Nagel Bodine died in 1996 in Milpitas, Santa Clara County, California. The couple had two daughters, Carol, wife of Robert E. Hartley of San Jose, California and Susan, wife of Douglas K. Nelson, of Santa Clara, California, and one grandchild, Diana Lynn Hartley, now 43.
