Notes for: Quinton Allen Walker, Sr.

Quinton's family's tribe is from the Grand Traverse Band of Odawa and Chippewa Indians. He was told that he was named after the Rev. Quinton Walker and that his ancestor was a fisherman. I have also seen the name of this tribe as Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Ahnishnahbek. They have a newsletter online that several of Quinton's extended family belonged or belong to. This is one of several groups from the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians.

Uncle Quinton served in both the Vietnam and Korean Wars. When I was young, he gave me several items from his military career.

Carol told me that Quinton is spelled the way I have it. The army and his school spelled it several other erroneous ways, but the way he has always had it is "Quinton."

Hi Dave,

We're trying to stay warm, snow banks of 3-4 feet, they say spring is about a month away, can't wait. Quinton Allen Walker, born in Charlevoix on April 16, 1937 to Irene Walker & unknown father, his name was listed as Quintin A Walker when he enlisted, & he heard a kid get reamed out just ahead of him who questioned the sgt for misspelling his name so he just let it go, he's been Quintin ever since. His grandparents were Theresa Wasaquam & Jackson Walker, they had 8 children. We were married at Ft Campbell, Ky & your Dad gave me away. He said "good riddence!!!"

Our love to all, Carol
