Walter L. Berdine, age 21 years and 1 month, a native of Navarre County, Texas, he enlisted 5 May 1898 at Fort Point, Galveston County, Texas for a period of 3 years and was assigned to Company E, 23rd Infantry. He died 31 July 1898 of bronchial pneumonia, following measles, at Cavite, the Philippines. He was buried at the White School House Cemetery, Crosby, Texas.
