Florence Bodine was born 22 Sept 1918 in Manhattan.

In April 1930, Florence Bodine, 11, lived with her aunt Rosalie Bodine in Manhattan. On 3 Jan 1939, the ship "Queen of Bermuda," sailing from Hamilton, Bermuda, docked at the port of New York. The passenger list noted Rosalie C. Bodine, born 1881 in NY and Florence M. Bodine, born 1918 in NY, both residing at 618 W. 142nd St., New York.

Richard Powell AND Florence M. Bodine were married 12 Nov 1942 in Manhattan.

On 16 Oct 1940, Richard Powell of New York City registered for the World War II Draft. He reported he was born 2 Feb 1918 in Yonkers, New York and named his sister, Betty LaGuta, as his next of kin.

From The Hempstead, N. Y. Sentinel of 27 March 1947:
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Powell of Terrace avenue, Hempstead, named their new daughter Diane. She was born at Mercy Hospital on March 11.

On 1 Feb 1969 in Arlington, VA Diane Elizabeth Powell married Stephen Leslie Capps. Diane was born 11 March 1947 in NY to Richard and Florence M. (Bodine) Powell. In 2020 she lived in Locust Grove, Virginia.

The Report of Interment of Richard Powell reports he was born 2 Feb 1918 and died 8 Dec 1953. He had served as a SSgt in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was buried in Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY, Section P, Grave 778 with grave 777 reserved for his widow, Mrs. Florence Powell of Hempstead, NY.

Richard Powell died 8 Dec 1953 in Hempstead, NY, aged 35. [Note: He died in Meadowbrook Hospital, East Meadow, Long Island according to all newspaper reports.]

East Farmingdale--A 35-year-old Hempstead mechanic died in Meadowbrook Hospital Monday night, nine hours after being trapped under a new jet plane that exploded at Republic Aviation Corporation plant. Richard Powell was drenched in flaming oil and his clothes and hair were set afire, when the ship under which he was working exploded and rocked the whole building with a blast. Others who were injured Included John Robinson, of Hartsdale, N. Y., an inspector, whose head, face, hands and body were seriously burned, and Jeorge Daguanno, of Brooklyn, who had a leg broken and suffered burns. These three men were taken to the hospital after they were given first aid at the plant. Also injured were Salvatore Cannavo of Brooklyn, a radioman who was thrown from the ship; Arthur Fernandez, of 11 Ashland Place, East Northport, who was burned when he attempted to put out the fire in Powell's clothes; Herb Grumm of Bellrose; George Panzera of Manhatten and Isidore Elia of Patchogue.

The obituary of Florence's sister, Carolyn B. Savage in The News and Observer (Raleigh, NC) of 15 March 1970 named among her survivors her sister, Mrs. Florence Cook of Glen Cove, N.Y.

In July 2021, Florence M. Cook, 103, lives at 1611 Paumanack Village Dr #301, Greenlawn, NY 11740-2415.
