Notes for: Infant Bodine

I am only guessing at the existence of this child. I base it on the following statement in bold below:

From: Biographical History of Crawford, Ida, and Sac Counties, Iowa. Lewis Publishing Company, 1893
J. C. BODINE, a well-to-do farmer of Cook township, Sac county, Iowa, post office Schaller, was born February 8,1835. His parents were Gilbert and Harriet (Swartout) Bodine, natives of Pennsylvania and New York, respectively. His father was of French origin, and his mother's ancestors were from Holland. Mr. Bodine was the seventh of eleven children, and received his education in the common schools in New York.

The above says that James C. Bodine (a son of Gilbert and Harriet Bodine) was one of eleven siblings. That statement could be incorrect, but let's assume that it is accurate. From all the sources on this family so far, I have only found ten children; so one appears to be missing. Given the fact that one child seems to have been born every year or two, there is a conspicuous gap between Freeman (.b. 1823) and Susan (b. abt. 1827). My guess is that this Bodine child was born sometime around 1825.

This child is not mentioned in the 1850 Census of Romulus, NY as one of Gilbert's children. Either this child had died by then or this child was a male and was living elsewhere. Or this child could have been a female and was married and had moved away from home.
