Notes for: Charles ("Charlie") Elmer Bodine

Charlie was the namesake of his uncle, Charles Elbert Bodine, who had died in Texas in 1910. Charlie attended Euchee School in Meigs County during the 1924-5 school year when his teacher, Katharene Bennett, noted in her class record a birthday of 4 Aug 1918. However, the date 15 June 1918 appeared on a small folded piece of paper inserted in a metal grave marker on Charlie's grave in Hornsby Chapel Cemetery. The marker has long since disappeared. This date seems to better match his age of 1 year and 6 months recorded in the Meigs County census in January 1920.

His State of Tennessee Certificate of Death, which did not record his age, notes he died of lobular pneumonia and diabetes and was under the care of Dr. T. L. Smith, of Rockwood. His burial took place on 9 Feb 1925.
