Notes for: Carrie Bell Bodine

On 17 July 1925, Carrie Garrett,a resident of Overton County, Tennessee appears as one of six complainants in a bill to the Chancery Court of Meigs County regarding the disposition of her father's real estate. The case was resolved 20 April 1926.

Several relatives have stated that Carrie died in the late 1920s or early 1930s in Crawford, Overton County. The Tennessee Department of Public Health, Division of Vital Statistics has no record of her death during the period 1918-1937.

Lon Garrett appears on the 1910 Meigs County census working as a miner in the ore mines. In his household resides his wife, Cora (sic) and four children, Henry, Loucile, Lula J. and Pearl. Married for 13 years, the census notes that Carrie had given birth to 7 children, but only 4 were still living.

In 1920, Alonzo Garrett, aged 64, was living alone in Humphreys County, Tennessee. In 1930, the family was back together, living in District 9, of Overton County, where Alonzo engaged in farming.

He was later married, 29 September 1941, to Estes Reagan. She was born 10 March 1896, died April 1978 in Jamestown, Fentress County and was buried with her husband in James Blaine Reagan Cemetery, in Fentress County.

According to a website posting, Carrie Bell Bodine Garrett was born 28 May 1880 and died 29 July 1953 in Crawford, Overton County. In May 2001 the Tennessee Department of Health searched the death records for 1952 to 1954 and was unable to locate a certificate.

Llonzo William Garrett

L. W. Garrett, age 79, passed away at his home in Jamestown on December 30, 1956.

He is survived by his wife, and two daughters: Mrs. Geneva Bogg, and Mrs. Cora Upchurch, both of Muncie, Indiana, two sons: William R. of Muncie, Indiana, and Henry Garrett of Crossville.

Funeral services were held at the South Main Street Baptist Church on January 1, 1957, with Rev. Stanley Cravens and Rev. Sam Garrett officiating. Interment at Little Crab. Looper Funeral Home in charge.
