Howard Charles Bodine Jr, born 11 Nov 1933 in Youngstown, Ohio, son of Howard C. Bodine Sr. & Ruth J. Boyle AND Carol Lee Holt, born 11 March 1941 in Warren, Ohio, dau. of James D. & Mary (Dudicz) Holt, were married 14 Oct 1961 by Clarence J. Haas.
Carol (Holt) Bodine is the daughter of James Deven and Mary (Dudicz) Holt.

CANFIELD - Howard Charles Bodine Jr., 78, died suddenly of an apparent heart attack, early Wednesday morning at his residence. Howard was born Nov. 11, 1933, in Youngstown, a son of Howard Sr., and Ruth Boyle Bodine. Howard was raised in Canfield and was a 1951 graduate of Canfield High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea after the war ended. Returning to the area, Howard worked at the A&P Market in Warren and later for Nemenz Value King. In 1964, he purchased the Value King on Market Street, which he later relocated to Southern Boulevard. He owned the store until selling it in 1974. He then worked for Swope's Value King in North Lima, retiring in 1989. From 1986 until 2007, he was employed as the Secretary of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Youngstown. Howard was extremely active in the Masonic Fraternity. In all aspects after joining the various organizations, he worked hard and was moved into leadership positions. He became a member of Western Star Lodge No. 21 in November 1956, where he became the Worshipful Master in 1977. He also served as Treasurer then became the Secretary until 2009. In 2003 and 2004, the Lodge received the Best of the Best Award. He served on the Youngstown Masonic Temple Board of Trustees from 1981 to present and was president from 1995 to 1997. He was a member of the 24th District Past Masters Association. He served as District Deputy Grand Master. In 2003, he was made an honorary member of Leetonia Lodge 401, where he was the organist. In 1960, he became a member of Youngstown Chapter, No. 93 Royal Arch Masons becoming Excellent High Priest in 1967 and later served as Secretary. He also became a member of Buechner Council No. 107, Royal and Select Masons, being elected Illustrious Master in 1966 and then served as Recorder. He was a member of St. John's Commandery No. 20 Knights Templar, becoming Eminent Commander in 1972, following as Recorder. Howard was a Charter Member, Knight Crusader of the Cross, North Carolina and Knight Commander of the Temple, Grand Encampment in 2004. In 1978, he was taken in to the Ohio Priory No. 18, Knights of the York Cross of Honor and was the Hospitaler, Mahoning County and District Deputy, prior followed by being Eminent Prior in 1995. In the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Youngstown (also known as the 32nd Degree), he became a member in 1959, serving as Thrice Potent Master, Sovereign Prince, Most Wise Master, and Commander in Chief. He was President of the Board of Trustees, Assistant Secretary and Secretary for 10 years. In 1976, he was Coroneted with the 33rd Degree. He became the Supreme Council Class Marshall from 1978 to 1993 and the Supreme Council Class Director from 1993 to present. Howard was a member of AI Koran Temple, the Youngstown Shrine Club and Aut Mori Grotto. He received the Trowel-Iers Order of Merit, Chief Artificer. He was a member of the Royal Order of Scotland, Red Cross of Constantine, Puissant Sovereign, Allied Masonic Degrees, Sovereign Master, Red Branch of Eri, the Order of DeMolay Legion of Honor, Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests, Very Eminent Preceptor, Registrar, Shannon Council, Knights Masons-Ireland, Excellent Chief and Scribe, The Grand Steward of the Grand Council, Progress Court, Order of the Amaranth, Royal-Patron, Philaletheis Society, Cleveland York Rite College, York Sovereign Rite College of North America, Order of the Purple Cross, Temple on the Hill Hi-12 Club, where he served as President and was the current Treasurer. One of Howard's crowning achievements was that he was a founding Charter Member and a continuing Board Member of the ongoing 32nd Degree Children's Dyslexia Center at the Youngstown Masonic Temple. The Center provides education for children with Dyslexia without charge as a service to the community. Howard was a member of the Christ's Church, 7155 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, OH 44512, where he was pianist and past Elder. Howard enjoyed vacationing with family to Gatlinburg, Tenn., traveling with Carol, including the twice a year vacation to Kissimmee, Fla., but most of all Howard enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Howard leaves his wife, the former Carol Lee Holt, whom he married Oct. 14, 1961; two sons, Eric (Sharon) Bodine of Columbiana and Evan (Donna) Bodine of Waxhaw, N.C.; one daughter, Sara (Randy) Ball; six grandchildren, Cameron and Erin Bodine, Brittany Bodine, Brooke, Morgan, and Hannah Ball; and one sister, Suzanne Bodine of Youngstown. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 2:15 p.m. conducted by Pastor John R. Selders at the Christ's Church, 7155 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, OH 44512, where a Masonic service will be held at 2 p.m. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. To honor Howard's wishes, the family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to The Youngstown Foundation for donation to The Children's Dyslexic Center, 223 Wick Ave., Youngstown, OH 44501.
