Richard J. Bodine passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at The Sweet Life Grand Court, O.P., KS. Richard was born to Jesse and Katherine M. Bodine in Kansas City, KS. Visitation will be Monday, May 23, 2011, one hour prior to services at 11:00 a.m. at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS. Richard attended Ward High School and completed his education at William Jewell College, earning his BA degree before serving in the US Naval Air Corps as a navigator. Upon discharge from the service, Richard worked at A. O. Thompson Lumber Company. He then formed a partnership with Wayne Brower as Brower Bodine Construction Company building family as well as commercial property. Richard is preceded in death by his parents and brother Ralph Bodine. Surviving are three sisters, Alice M. Strieby, Evergreen, CO, Agnes L. Clune, Overland Park, KS, Louise (Ed) Fleetwood, Loch Lloyd, MO, brother James J. (Rita) Bodine, Kansas City, MO, He is also survived by 18 nieces and nephews plus many many greats. After retirement Richard was an avid golfer and fisherman. He enjoyed going on fishing trips with Harold Ensley to Costa Rica and Canada. The family expresses their gratitude to the staff at Sweet Life Grand Court and KC Hospice for their wonderful care.
