Notes for: Ambrose Wycliffe

I am making an educated guess that this Ambrose's parents are the Francis and Martha Wycliffe listed in the Whorlton Registers (Durham Co., England). That is not for sure; so take his parents with a grain of salt. Francis Wycliffe had a son Ambrose baptized in Whorlton on June 27, 1697. This Ambrose's wife was born about 1704; so this seems like a pretty good match.

I think he is listed as a Catholic (Papist) in his burial record.

From the records in the registers of Whorlton, Durham Co., England, I'm guessing that this Ambrose also had a son named William. There is an Ambrose born to a William and Mary Wycliffe in those registers. He was baptized on Oct. 17, 1784. This Ambrose's son Ambrose died rather young (abt 28 yrs old) and William maybe carried on the name Ambrose through his line.
