George W. Kunce, 89, died Tuesday morning, October 17 at St Mary's Alzheimer's Center. George was born May 17, 1928, in Struthers at his childhood home on Clingan Road, a son of George Joseph Kunce and Katherine Babich Kunce. His father immigrated from Austria and his mother from Zacreb Yugoslavia with George's grandparents Gabro and Francis Babich. A graduate of Struthers High School and trained in carpentry at a local vocational school, he worked in construction as foreman at many major building projects in Youngstown and Pittsburgh, including the Southern Park Mall, and the New Middletown Free Methodist Church. He spent 2 years in Riyadh Saudi Arabia overseeing the entire construction of a mall for a Saudi Prince. George custom built two family homes, one in New Middletown and his New Springfield home situated on 6 acres of land. Skilled in fine craftsmanship, George designed and hand crafted most of the furniture and woodwork in his home and other locations. George leaves his wife Pauline, one son, Dennis Kunce (Cindy) of Poland, Cynthia L Kunce of Boardman, Reverend Dianna Lynn Kunce of Seattle, and Victoria Ann (Mark) Havens of La Habra, Calif; and six grandchildren, David P, Ashleigh M, Jaclyn R. Sisk, Kelsey, Abbey, and Natalie Kunce. Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by his brother Joseph, and sister's Caroline and Francis. Friends will be received at Davis-Becker Funeral Home at 8536 Market Street in Boardman on Monday, October 23 at 4:00 p.m. The Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Bobby Murphy officiating. Interment will take place on Wednesday, October 25 at 9:00 a.m. at Petersburg Cemetery. CORTLAND---Robert G. Sill, 75, of 101 Creekside Commons, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Warren. Mr. Sill was born Oct. 9, 1930 in Laramie, Wy., a son of George and Sadie (Walker) Sill. After attending Vienna High School, Bob went on to serve our country in the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean Conflict. Following his return from the service, he worked with his father in the family-owned Sills Bakery in Youngstown. He also worked at the McKay Machine Company in Austintown, and was owner-operator of Bob's Cycle Sales in Vienna. He worked at Gordon James Career Center as a teacher in Lordstown, was owner-operator of Bob's Roto-Tiller Sales in Vienna, and worked at Stambaugh-Thompson Hardware Store in Boardman, and at Home Depot in Boardman. Bob had attended the Vienna Presbyterian Church in Vienna and the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Cortland. Survivors included his brother, Emil R. Sill of Vienna; his sister, Donna J. Schieffer of Vienna; his nieces, Marlene Rae of Arlington, Va. and Brenda Lee Robb and her husband, Jim of Cincinnati; his nephew, Christopher J. Schieffer of Cincinnati; his great-nephew, Jimmy J. Robb III of Cincinnati; and his dear friend and companion, Audrey Patrick of Cortland. He was preceded in death by his parents and his niece, Mary Alice Schieffer. There will be memorial services at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Madasz Funeral Chapel with Rev. Paul E. Johnson and Rev. Duane A. Jesse. Calling hours will be Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of services. A private family burial will be at Vienna Township Cemetery. New Middletown - Rebecca L. Kunce, 76, of New Middletown, formerly of Struthers, died Sunday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Rebecca was born August 16, 1934 in Struthers, Ohio a daughter of Cecil and Myrtle McLaughlin Bodine. She was raised in Struthers and moved to New Middletown in 1954. She was a student of Struthers High School, and later acquired her G.E.D. in 1985. Rebecca was a Christian homemaker and worked as a bus driver for numerous school districts and for WRTA. For the last fifteen years Rebecca was a beauty consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics. A former member of the New Middletown Free Methodist Church, Rebecca was a Sunday School teacher from cradle up to adults. She was Director for the Nursery Church and Junior Church for nine years. She was also involved in the church's bus ministry as a driver and a recruiter and was also the church custodian. Rebecca visited patients in the hospital and in their homes. For over twenty years, Rebecca was camp teacher, counselor, dorm mother, store manager for the Free Methodist Church Camp in Mansfield, Ohio. A former member of the Church of the Nazarene, Rebecca was also a Sunday School Teacher, Singles Director and was involved with the visitation and bus ministries of the church. Rebecca found much strength and comfort in her faith in her Lord Jesus Christ - "In your presence is fullness of joy" (Psalm 16:11) Her favorite saying was, "Always with Jesus". She found great joy in raising her 4 children. She is our"#1 mom". She loved and cherished all of her grandchildren. Rebecca leaves three daughters, Cynthia L.Kunce of Canfield, Reverend Dianna Lynn Kunce of Seattle, WA, and Victoria Ann (Mark) Havens of La Habra, CA; one son, Dennis (Cynthia) Kunce of New Middletown; one sister, Sally Stevens of Struthers; and six grandchildren, Kelsey, Abbey, and Natalie Kunce, and David P., Ashleigh M., and Jaclyn R. Sisk. Besides her parents, Rebecca was preceded in death by her sister, Daisy Burrell. Interment will follow at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Boardman.
