In June 1850, Lawrence Bodine, 22, lived in New York City and was employed as a clerk. In June 1870, he is living in Newburgh, Orange County, engaged as a book keeper and in June 1880, Lawrence, 50, is unemployed. His wife Ann and their son George live in the household in Newburgh. On 1 March 1877, Lawrence C. Bodine, with Samuel Ritchie and Frank S. Hull, became owners of Newburgh's The Daily Journal newspaper. About Jan 1878, Lawrence Bodine retired. Married 7 Feb in Walden, Laurence C. Bodine of Newburgh and Isabella Lambertson of Walden.
The will of Lawrence C. Bodine of Newburgh, Orange County, written 13 Dec 1894, names as his only heir his wife Isabella B. Bodine, who is also appointed executrix. The will probate notes the death of Lawrence Bodine as 14 Dec 1894. A petition for probate was filed by Isabella Bodine on 20 Dec 1894 and the will was proved on 14 Feb 1895. Nowhere is there a mention of their son, George Bodine, who should have been noted in the probate even if not mentioned in the will. (Orange County Wills, vol. 59 [1894-1895], pp. 258-260.
