Notes for: William Cales Bodin

I have a copy of his death certificate. His place of birth and that of his parents looks something like Borvas or Boroas, Sweden. Looking online, that could be Boras, Sweden. Just a guess. Someone thinks it might be Borose.

From Ronny Bodine:

From Marriage Records of Ozaukee County: Wm. Bodeen, son of Peter and Maria Bodeen married Sarah Germanson, daughter of Christopher and Mary Germanson on 19 April 1878. In June 1900, William Bodin lived in Port Washington, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. He was a widower with 6 children, immigrated from Norway in 1873 and worked as a carpenter. In the June 1905 Wisconsin State Census, William Bodin was living in Port Washington with his children: Mamie 25, Adelia 17, Amanda 14, Willie 12.

I have information on Julius Sylvan Bodin, son of William Cales Bodin and Sarah Germanson. Sarah's older brother James was my great grandfather. I've been tracking them for the last year. Julius was born on February 17, 1886 in Port Washington, Wisconsin, to William and Sarah. He passed away on December 23, 1955 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Was married to Hildegard Bodin, born on December 23, 1893 and died on April 5, 1978 in Juneau, Dodge County, Wisconsin. Had daughter Juanita Bodin, born about 1933. No further info on her. I have pictures of the headstones of William and Sarah in Union Cemetery in Port Washington, , Julius and Hildegard in Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam, Dodge, Wisconsin, William Christian, his wife Florence and his son William J. Bodin in Mount Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, DuPage, Illinois, sister Amanda Bodin and and her husband Arthur in Saint Joseph's Cemetery, River Grove, Cook, Illinois. Their son Arthur Corrigan, Jr. was born on April 20,1919 and died February 22, 1998. He is buried with his wife in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Cook, Illinois. Also have a picture of Lydia's grave in Union Cemetery in Port Washington, but has only her first name and middle initial as if is next to a bigger Bodin headstone with only the family name on it. If you tell me how I can try to send th pictures to you. I can also invite you to my Ancestry tree hand have you take what you need. Sincerely, Frank Germanson

Just sent an email to you regarding the William and Sarah Bodin extended family. Sarah's baby sister Emma Germanson (December 5, 1867-June 21, 1902)married a Swede named Frank Bodine born Sep 1863. They married on June 29, 1895 and had daughter Alvina M. Bodine in Feb of 1897. Emma died in 1902. In the 1910 census it listed Alvina as adopted. Neither she or Frank were listed in the 1920 census. 1930 census had an Alvina M Bodine Renier in Door County, Wisconsin, but could not find in the 1940 census. Any suggestions?

Hi Frank,

I'm wondering if you know who those other Bodins are in Union Cemetery in Port Washington? There is an Alfred, and Embert H., and a Sylvia. I'm guessing they might be children of William and Sarah who died young. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dave

I've only seen William, Sarah and Lydia's headstones there. There is an identical headstone to the one of Sarah and William's, but it is on the other side of the cemetery by Lydia. It has Bodin but no other names on it. I am also on Ancestry.com and have never seen evidence of Willian and Sarah having other kids than the ones you have listed. In the register of deeds office in Port Washington the death certificate said Sarah's sister Emma Germanson Bodine was at Union cemetery, but someone working there says she is not there. I'll be heading up to Port Washinton either this or next week so I'll check then... Frank

I went up to Belgium, Wisconsin to the Luxembourg Historical Society. Theyhave a great deal of Port Washington info that they acquired because it was too small to hold it all. I hit paydirt. I got the Union Cemetery records for Willian cales Bodin and family, including the 3 along side their mom and dad. I also have a death certificate for William and Emma Bodine from the Port Washington register of deeds... Frank
