Obituary, The Herald News (Joliet, IL) of 1 Nov 2025
Jessie M. Cambic, age 75, a resident of Glendale Heights, IL, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025 at her son's home in Wheaton, IL. She was born August 9, 1950 in Joliet, IL to Thomas & Jessie (née Blackwood) Bodine. Jessie spent most of her life in Joliet, Illinois, where her love for learning and teaching took root early. After attending St. Patrick Catholic Grade School and Saint Francis Academy, she pursued her dream of becoming a teacher at the College of St. Francis. Her career spanned several schools, but she found her true home at Joliet Central High School, where she taught reading for over 25 years and led the Communicative Arts Department. Even after retiring, her passion for education endured as she continued teaching English at Joliet Junior College. While Jessie was a dedicated educator, her heart belonged to her family. She poured her energy into raising her two sons and found her greatest joy in being a grandmother, embracing the role with boundless love and pride. Jessie was also a thoughtful sister, aunt, and cousin-always remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and milestones. Her kindness extended to friends and neighbors alike, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh. A devoted member of St. Michael Church in Wheaton, Jessie lived a life of service, faith, and love-leaving behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those she cherished. She is survived by her sons, Christopher (Angela) Cambic & Marcus (Jillian) Cambic; her grandchildren Sienna, Daniella, Harrison & Eisley; her sister Veronica (the late Daniel) Mahoney; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings Mary (the late James) Zambon, James (the late Marla) Bodine & Thomas (Nancy) Bodine. A visitation will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church, 310 S. Wheaton Ave., Wheaton, IL 60187, on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
