Dear Mr. Miele:

In the letter I wrote to you on May 26, concerning John Bodine, Jane Bodine, Charles Russell Bodine, Cynthia Saxon, etc., I should have added this: At the Church of Christ grave yard at Berea, Alabama, the first wife of Charles Russell Bodine, Ida Murphy Bodine and his first born son, John Bodine are buried, this John Bodine being the grandson of the above John Bodine. I have seen this grave yard some 40 years ago so I just can't remember the dates of deaths. I have obtained this first John Bodine's Civil War Service Record from the National Archives which states that he was paroled at Gainesville, Alabama, May 22, 1865, from prisoner of war status, I have obtained from Mississippi Archives record of his death as reported in the Vicksburg Herald Newspaper as having died Sept. 5, 1878, in the Yellow Fever Epidemic there at that time. None of these records give his birth place and/or names of his parents. He is believed to have been born in Plattesville, Wisconsin, came south and fought against his brothers in the Civil War. My father, Charles Russell Bodine, inherited a sum of money from the above Jane Bodine. I do not know where she lived when she died so I have been unable to find any record of her will. An attorney in Chattanooga, Tenn. Traced my father here to San Antonio, Tex. to send his inheritance. I wonder if there are any records in your library that would give information about this will and the ancestors of the above John Bodine. Pay for copies of these records will be remitted if any. Sincerely, Elizabeth Bodine.
