Richard "Dick" Lutz, 75, of Franklin Park for 50 years, died Feb. 12, 2004, at Allegheny General Hospital. He was born in Glenfield on Dec. 1, 1928, to the late Phillip and Hannah Lutz. Mr. Lutz retired in 1984 as a union officer from the United Food and Commercial Workers. He served as past secretary/treasurer of his union and was instrumental in instituting their present credit union. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Catherine Lutz, and his four sons: Rick and wife Cheryl of Bradford, Jeff and wife Michele of West View, Mark and wife Debbie of Mt. Lebanon, and Tim and wife Denise of Minneapolis. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Jared, Allison, Meghan, Tony, Zachary and Angela. He also is survived by two sisters, Mary Louise Valensky of Moon and Martha Edger of Emsworth. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Theodore, Robert and Verner. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery in Glenfield. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or of the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were handled by Copeland's Sewickley-Irvine Chapel.

Catherine "Katie" (Bodine) Lutz, 78, of Sewickley, formerly of Franklin Park, died at her residence on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007. She was born in Coraopolis on Nov. 15, 1928 to the late Frank and Mary Bodine. She was preceded in death on Feb. 12, 2004 by her beloved husband for 55 years, Richard "Dick" J. Lutz. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Anthony Bodine. Mrs. Lutz took pride in her vocation of being a full-time mom. She spoiled all her family with her wonderful cooking not to mention her forte of being a diplomatic mediator. She was a member of St. James Church. She is survived by her four loving children: Rick Lutz and wife Cheryl of Bradford, Jeff Lutz and wife Michele of West View, Mark Lutz of Mt. Lebanon, and Tim Lutz and wife Denise of Minneapolis, Minn.; six cherished grandchildren: Jared and wife Amanda, Allison, Meghan, Tony, Zachary and Angela; two devoted sisters: Natalie "Nettie" Hasper and husband "Bernie" of Tempe, Ariz. and Emily "Millie" Valenzi of Sewickley. Visitation and funeral prayer was at Copeland's Sewickley, 702 Beaver St. Mass was at St. James Church with the Rev. Daniel Valentine officiating. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.
