HANOVER, N.H. -- Mary F. Bodine died quietly at home on Wednesday, Feb. 1, with family and friends by her side. She was born in Brattleboro, Vt., the daughter of Wilfred G. Bodine, Sr. and Bessie (Sheldon) Bodine. She grew up in Chester and Bellows Falls, Vt. She graduated from Becker College in Worcester, Mass., and spent her career as a medical secretary. She worked for two years in Hiroshima, Japan, for the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission. She later lived for 10 years in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, where she worked for the Arabian-American Oil Co. She moved to Hanover in 1966, and had lived there ever since, retiring from the Mary Hitchcock Clinic in 1988. She traveled worldwide her entire life and logged over 150,000 miles at sea. She also loved needlecraft and won awards for some of her pieces. She served as president of the local AARP chapter, which she was active in for many years. She was also very involved with David's House. She is survived by her nephew, Thomas W. Bodine of Sterling, Mass.; her nieces, Barbara A. Bodine of Perkinsville, Vt., and Laura J. Wormell of Fitchburg, Mass.; seven great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-nephew. Her third niece, Linda M. Ricci of Bellows Falls, predeceased her, along with her brother, Wilfred G. Bodine Jr., of Springfield, Vt. A memorial celebration will be held at the RAND-WILSON FUNERAL HOME in Hanover on Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
