HOVEN--Victor E. Hoven of Route 2, Box 488 B, passed away September 3, 1965, at a local nursing home. He was born September 30, 1871 near Stockholm, Sweden. Mr. Hoven was a professor at the Northwest Christian College for 37 years, from 1912 to 1949, at which time he was retired as Professor Emeritus. He received degrees from the Eugene Divinity School, now Northwest Christian College, Drake University and the University of Oregon. His wife, Leona, preceded him in death June 1, 1962. He was a member of the Northwood Christian Church. He is survived by two sons: Paul of Eugene and Ard of Lexington, Kentucky; two daughters: Mrs. Hollis Jensen of Springfield, Rowena Hoven of Portland, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three brothers: Oscar of Salem, Adolph of Tillamook, and Martin of Los Angeles; one sister: Mrs. Hulda Smith of Salem. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 7, 1965, at 10 a.m. in the Lane Memorial Gardens, Reverend Frank Betzer of the Northwood Christian Church and Dr. Ward Rice, of Northwood Christian College officiating. BUELL CHAPEL in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers those who wish may contribute to a memorial fund in his name at Northwood Christian College or Northwood Christian Church.
