PARIS; March 1---Lynn Lewis, 55, veteran of the first World War, took his own life sometime yesterday morning by shooting himself just below the heart with a .410 gauge shotgun. The body was found shortly after noon, by his brother-in-law, Henry Bodine, in a rear room of the home. Dr. T. R. Turner of Madison, Monroe county coroner, Sheriff Russell Wilkes and Prosecuting Attorney Tom Proctor were called to the scene and pronounced an inquest unnecessary. Mr. Lewis sustained the loss of his right arm in an automobile accident shortly after returning home from service in the first World War. Since that time he had worked in a shop at the rear of his home, at refinishing furniture and odd jobs of carpentry. According to his wife and his brother-in-law, who lived in the home, he seemed in usual good spirits at breakfast yesterday morning but told them he was not feeling well and intended to return to his room to lie down for a while Mrs. Lewis took her brother to his work and did her usual morning shopping. When Mr. Bodine returned to the noon meal he called Mr. Lewis, but he did not respond, he and Mrs. Lewis presumed he was still resting and did not disturb him. Later when he did not appear Mrs. Lewis and Mr. Bodine became concerned and Mrs. Lewis went to his room to see if he were feeling worse. Mr. Bodine, in the meantime, found the body in the shop. He is suprvived by his wife, the former Miss Nadine Bodine; a sister, Mrs. Dennis Kelly of Paris; and a brother, Lon Lewis of Audrain county. Graveside services will be held at 10 or clock tomorrow morning in Walnut cemetery by the Rev. J. P. Winkler.
