QUANAH - James Hegwood, 61, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Goodlett Baptist Church with the Rev. Monte Lumpkin officiating. Burial will be in Quanah Memorial Park by Smith Funeral Home. Mr. Hegwood was born Feb. 26, 1948, in Seymour to James Franklin and Lucy Helen Lewis Hegwood. He married Laverne Akins on March 23, 2003, in Quanah. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Lisa Perez of Chillicothe; three sons, James E. Hegwood and Jason Hegwood, both of Quanah, and Billy Hegwood of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Linda May and Teresa Allen, both of Tomah, Wis.; his stepmother and father, Coleen and Dave Springman of Tomah; two stepsons, Charles Goodridge of Quanah and Billy Goodridge of El Paso; a stepdaughter, Tina Deffendal of Leesville, La.; and 13 stepgrandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to American Cancer Society, 3915 S. Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79109; or American Heart Association, 2514 82nd St., Suite B, Lubbock, TX 79423.
