On 5 June 1917, John Bodine registered for the World War I draft in Grenola, Elk County, Kansas. He reported he was married with one child and worked as a barber. In 1920-1930, John Bodine lived in Neodesha, Wilson County, Kansas employed there as a life insurance salesman.
