In 1900, Herbert and Elsie Bodine lived in Bridgeport, Fairfield County where Herbert worked as a nickel polisher. They had been married less than a year. He reported he was born Oct 1877.
On 12 Sept 1918, Herbert John Bodine registered for the World War 1 draft in Bridgeport, Fairfield County, Connecticut. He reported he was born 28 March 1879, worked as foreman for the Crane Valve Company of Bridgeport and Elsie S. Bodine was his next of kin.
In 1920, he lived in Newtown, Fairfield County employed as foreman for a valve company. By April 1930 he was divorced and living alone in Newtown, now engaged as a farmer.

He registered for the World War II draft in 1942 and now gave his date of birth as 28 March 1880, adding he was born in Bridgeport, worked for Dairy Specialty Inc. and Mrs. Emily Bodine was his next of kin. Herbert and Emily Bodine divorced in 1962.

NEWTOWN, May 9--Services for Herbert Bodine, 84, of 31 Sugar street, who died Thursday in his home, will take place Monday at 2 p.m. in the Wilmot, West and Goulding funeral home. Michael Sape of Jehovah's Witnesses will officiate, and burial will be in Newtown Village cemetery. Born in Bridgeport, Mr. Bodine resided in Newtown 50 years. He was a retired toolmaker, having been employed with Griscom company and Crane Valve company. Survivors are four sons, Eugene Bodine, of Bridgeport, Leonard Bodine, of Glendale, Calif., Thomas J. Bodine, of Savannah, Ga., and Floyd Bodine of California; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Vidoli, of Pittsfield, Mass., and two brothers, Charles K. Bodine, of Buzzard's Bay, Mass., and David Plumb, of Trumbull.

Services for Mrs. Emily P. Bodine, 87, who died Thursday in Pond Point Convalescent hospital, Milford, will take place Monday at 11 a.m. in the Larson funeral home, 2496 North avenue, with the Rev. Caryl V. Benson, pastor of Salem Lutheran church, officating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Mrs. Bodine was born in Bridgeport and had lived in this area all her life. Survivors are three nephews.
