In 1870, Jesse Bodine, age 33, a farmer, lived in Montgomery, Orange County and in June 1880 in Mamakating, Sullivan County. In 1900, he lived in Mamakating, Sullivan County. He reported he worked as a mason and that in 33 years of marriage his wife had borne 8 children of whom 6 were then living. Yet, 7 children were named, including the youngest, Arthur, born when his mother was 50. In 1910, Mary Bodine, now a widow, lived with her son James Bodine in Mamakating. She reported that of her 7 children, 5 were then living.

Bloomingburg, Nov. 17 - Mary L. Bodine, widow of Jesse Bodine, died at her home in Bloomingburg, this morning, after a few days' illness of pneumonia, aged 68 years. She is survived by three sons and one daughter: George and James, at home; Will, of Fair Oaks, and Myrta, wife of John VanLeuven, of West New York, N.J.; also by six brothers and one sister: George Smith, Henry Smith, of Ridgebury; John, of Chester; James, of Montgomery; Albert, of Walden; Nelson, of Wurtsboro; Mrs. Targett, of Wurtsboro. Private funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock at the home, Wednesday. Friends wishing to see Mrs. Bodine may do so between the hours of 10 and 12 o'clock, Wednesday morning. Interment in Bloomingburg Cemetery.
