In 1930, Leo V. Bodine, age 20 and single, lived in Lewiston, Nez Perce County, Idaho employed as a bookkeeper for a lumber mill. In 1955, Leo Bodine was serving as executive vice president of the National Lumber Manufacturer's Association in Washington, D.C., in 1971 as executive vice president of the National Association of Manufacturers, in 1973-1974 as president of the Associated Industries of Idaho, and as president of the Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry from its founding on 1 Jan 1975 to 1977.

Service for Leo V. Bodine, 75, former president of the Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry, was today at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d'Alene. Mr. Bodine died Friday at his home in Post Falls. Son of James and Adeline Bodine, he was born Nov. 19, 1909, in Elberton, Wash., and moved to Post Falls as a child. He graduated from high school there and attended college in Spokane. In 1930 he moved to Lewiston where he worked for Potlatch Forests Inc. Mr. Bodine moved to St. Paul, Minn., in 1948 as vice president of public relations for Weyerhaeuser Sales Co. and to Washington, D.C., in 1952 as executive vice president of the National Lumber Manufacturers Association. He returned to Spokane in 1957 as senior vice president for Diamond National (Diamond International). He was president of Menominee Enterprises Inc. from 1961 until returning to Washington, D.C., in 1964 as executive vice president of the National Association of Manufacturers. He retired in 1971.
After returning to Idaho, Mr. Bodine was brought out of retirement to be president of Associated Industries of Idaho before its merger with the Idaho State Chamber of Commerce and Potato Processors of Idaho. He was president of the newly formed organization, the Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry, until retiring again in 1977 and returning to the family farm at Post Falls. Mr. Bodine was a past grand exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge in Lewiston and was an avid golfer. He married Mary Bouton in Spokane in 1937. Survivors include his wife, at the home; one son, Lynn Bodine of Post Falls; one daughter, Sue Helen Bodine of Seattle; one brother, Roy Bodine of Post Falls; and two sisters, Mary Hartman of Post Falls and Martha Hubbard of Coeur d'Alene.

Mary K. Bodine, age 96, of Post Falls went to be with the Lord on March 28, 2007. She was born in Spokane on December 30, 1910 to Glenn and Helen Bouton. Mary has lived in Post Falls on the family farm for the past 23 years. Mary was a grade school teacher in Spirit Lake and Calder before marrying in 1937, and thereafter was a homemaker. She enjoyed the outdoors, wildlife and camping trips in the motorhome. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Leo V. Bodine, daughter Sue Helen Bodine and Brother Max Bouton. She is survived her son Lynn Bodine and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Idaho: 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, Idaho 83835. Funeral services will be Saturday March 31 at 2:00PM at Yates Funeral Home Coeur d'Alene Chapel with burial to follow at Forest Cemetery.
