On 5 June 1917, Walton Martin Bodine registered for the World War I draft in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri where he was proprietor of a drug store. He reported he was born in Longton, Kansas on 23 Nov 1890. In 1930, W. M. Bodine lived with his wife and son in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri where he owned and operated a drug store. Mary (Gilmore) Bodine was the daughter of Marshall and Rose (Anderson) Gilmore. She died of cancer and was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery in Kansas City. Walton Martin Bodine, 63, of Kansas City, Mo., widowed, born in Kansas, son of Ashby S. Bodine & Emma Stone AND Anna Abbagail Hepworth, 62, of Kansas City, Kansas, born in Missouri, daughter of William Cranmer & Mary Hord, were married 10 May 1954 in Los Angeles, by Rev. Wade Lane, Evangelical Minister. [Note: Anna was 1st married to Walter Wesley Hepworth [1892-1948] and was buried with him in Highland Park Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas].

Mrs. Mary Gilmore Bodine, 58 years old, 3525 Central street, died of cancer early today at the St. Joseph hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Bodine was the mother of Walt Bodine, night newscaster for WDAF, who lives at 417 East Twenty-ninth avenue, North Kansas City. Born in Kansas City, Kansas, Mrs. Bodine had lived in this area all of her life. She had been an active worker in the Central Reorganized Latter Day Saint church about thirty years. Until about six months ago, she had served as church organist almost twenty years. Music was a major interest of Mrs. Bodine, who composed several songs around 1910. One of them, "The Electric Ray," was popular in this area for a long time. Besides her son, Mrs. Bodine leaves her husband, Walton M. Bodine of the home; her mother, Mrs. Rose Gilmore, 2534 Hiawatha street, Kansas City, Kansas; a sister, Mrs. Maude Murphy, 2945 Cissna street, Kansas City, Kansas; and a grandson, Walton Martin Bodine. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Monday at the Central Reorganized Latter Day Saint church.

W.M. Bodine, 68, a pharmacist and drugstore and restaurant operator in Kansas City more than 45 years, died today at St. Mary's hospital. He was the father of Walt Bodine, 5210 West Seventy-seventh street terrace, Prairie Village, news director of WDAF and WDAF-TV. Mr. Bodine suffered a cerebral hemorrhage February 3 at his home in the St. Francis hotel. He was born in Longton, Kas., and came here as a youth to attend the Kansas City College of Pharmacy. He operated an all-night drugstore 30 years at Linwood boulevard and Troost avenue, where he established a bus depot that was later moved to its present location, 713 Linwood boulevard. During World War II, he managed a cafeteria at the Lake City arsenal. Until February 3 he worked as a pharmacist for the Bentonview Pharmacy, 3201 East Twelfth street. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Lillian Richardson, 4912 East Thirty-first street; two brothers, William D. Bodine of the home, and Russell Bodine, 901 Linwood boulevard, and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 8:30 o'clock Wednesday in the Mellody-McGilley-Eylar chapel and at 9 o'clock in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 o'clock Tuesday night at the chapel.

Mrs. Anna Hepworth Bodine, 73, of 4720 Leavenworth, Kansas City, Kansas, died yesterday at the home. She was born in Clinton, Mo., and lived in this area 55 years. Mrs. Bodine was a member of the Quindaro Reorganized Latter Day Saint church. Surviving are a son, George W. Hepworth, Chelsea, Ia.; a daughter, Mrs. Delores Novak, 4734 Leavenworth, and seven grandchildren. Services will be held at 1:30 o'clock Saturday at the Fulton-Nickel chapel; burial in Highland Park cemetery. Friends may call after 4 o'clock Friday at the chapel.
