On 5 June 1918, Samuel H. Bodine registered for the World War I draft in Elizabethtown, Union County.

A very pretty wedding was solemnized at Epworth M. E. Church at 7:30 o'clock last evening when Miss Ruth Hazel Nicholson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Nicholson, of 68 Westfield avenue, Roselle Park, was united in marriage to Samuel Horner Bodine, also of Roselle Park. About 150 relatives and friends were present during the ceremony, which was performed by Rev. Frederick C. Mooney. Mr. Bodine was attended by his brother, William Bodine.
In 1920, newly married, he lived with his wife Ruth with his parents in Roselle Park and worked as a mechanical draftsman. In 1930, Samuel Bodine still lived with his wife and 2 children in Roselle Park, though on their own now, and was still engaged as a draftsman. In 1942, Samuel Horner Bodine of Roselle Park, New Jersey registered for the World War II draft. He reported he was born 17 Sept 1896 in Roselle Park, worked for the Combustion Engineering Co. of New York City and Ruth Bodine was his next of kin.

Roselle Park---Mrs. Ruth Nicholson Bodine, 78, of 809 Chestnut St., died yesterday (Jan. 30, 1976) at St. Elizabeth's Hospital. Born in Elizabeth, she had lived in Roselle Park for 60 years. She was a member of the Community United Methodist Church of Roselle Park and the Women's Society of the church. She is survived by her husband, Samuel H.; a son, Robert S. of South Plainfield; a daughter, Mrs. Doris Wilson of Parsippany; a sister, Mrs. Herbert F. Sailer of Elizabeth; three granddaughters and two great-grandsons. Arrangements are by the J. C. Prall, Inc., Funeral Home in Roselle.
